CANTO Overview

“Shaping the Future of Information and Telecommunication”, is a pertinent mantra of the Association from its inception in 1984.   Charged with a mission, “to facilitate the development of ICT solutions for the benefit of members and other stakeholders in the Caribbean region”; the CANTO brand is synonymous with ICT expertise, strong Operator & Supplier membership and excellent networking opportunities.

The success of CANTO is not based solely on the strength of its over 100 members from 35 different countries, but can also be attributed to a myriad of ICT developmental projects, workshop and its strong strategic partnership with regional and international organizations such as CARICOM, CARICAD, CCAA, CITEL, CKLN, CTO, CTU, ECTEL, HIPCAR, ITU, ICANN and UWI to name a few.
CANTO’s vision: “to become the leading authority in shaping information and communication in the Caribbean”, dictates and supports CANTO’s role in the Caribbean. CANTO is viewed in the Caribbean telecommunications community as those of leadership, in influencing policy; expert, in providing information in all aspects of the industry and facilitator, in encouraging dialogue and meaningful collaborative enterprise.

The policy strategy of the association is directed by a board of directors appointed by the membership. This strategy is executed by the staff of a permanent Secretariat that is headquartered in Trinidad & Tobago. The association’s activities are financed through the contributions of the members.

CANTO consists of a general assembly, a board of directors, and a Secretariat, headed by a Secretary General who is supported by an Operations & Human Resource Manager, Finance & Administration Manager and a Service Development Manager.
