Speaking Opportunities -
First Announcement and Call for Papers
One of CANTO’s 2008 major objectives is to encourage the beneficial development of telecommunications in the Caribbean. We firmly believe that this can materialize through better understanding and knowledge of issues in this fast evolving communication sector. ;
Accordingly, we invite you to contribute your part to assure the success of CANTO’08 by proposing a paper on one of the topics outlined in the Call for Papers. The papers presented at our previous conferences have been recognized for their quality as leading indicators of major industry trends that are important to the Caribbean.
CANTO 2008 will comprise of the following major
sessions:
- Enabling Environment - Harmonization of Regional Regulations and
Policies;

- ICT Services and Applications - Mobile Broadband Contents and IPTV
·
- Infrastructure and Readiness - Moving towards Convergence
·
- Leveraging IT Automation for Business Transformation
·
- Maximizing Customer Value/Building Loyalty
·
- Strategy and Operations
You may submit a proposal on a relevant topic of your choice providing it is consistent with the theme of the conference, “Caribbean Unity through Connectivity”

GENERAL INFORMATION
Accepted proposals may be slated by CANTO reviewers in one of the following categories:
- Managed Session: An organized session with a suggested list of speakers, where the proposer overseas the speakers and logistics from beginning to end.
- Panel: A forum of experts designed to disseminate, compare and debate information..
- Session Presentation: the formal presentation of papers to a designated audience with a question and answer period.
Your paper proposal MUST include the following:
- Title of proposed paper
- An abstract of about 100 words. Full papers, graphs, charts, diagrams, slides etc will not be reviewed. The abstract should provide sufficient information to allow assessment of the scope and content of the paper and must be in text form.
- Session Name and Topic
- A short biography of no more than 75 words, reviewing the principal author’s and co-author(s) professional and educational background exactly as it will appear in publications and on CANTO’s website. Complete contact information ( full address, telephone and fax numbers, email address) must be included with each biography
- An electronic head shot of the presenter
- Name and complete contact information of presenter, if different from the principal author
- Five (5) key words for indexing purposes.

Important Rules and Requirements
- Proposals must be prepared in English.
- Commercialism or citation and promotion of trade names must be avoided and will be viewed as vendor presentations. CANTO reserves the right to decline any papers with commercial content without notice.
- The paper should be original and not have had prior coverage or circulation, such as presentation at other conferences or prior publication.
- Proposals should have any necessary organizational clearance before submission
- Authors whose proposals are accepted will be invited to submit a first draft of their full papers for further consideration. The invitation to submit a first draft does not mean automatic inclusion of paper in the conference programme. All first drafts must be submitted by
Friday 4th April 2008.
- No author can present more than once during the conference
- All proposals must be sent via e-mail and must have as the subject Speaking Opportunity CANTO 2008. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in your proposal not being reviewed for acceptance in the Agenda
- Upon acceptance based on the first draft, preparation guidelines for the complete manuscript will be sent to authors. The manuscripts must meet the requirements and received in the format specified in the guidelines by
Friday 6th June 2008. Where necessary, CANTO reserves the right to replace speakers.
