Preparatory Meeting on Convergence St. Lucia

The Preparatory Meeting on Convergence, convened by the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL), was held at the Bay Gardens Hotel, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia on Friday February 08, 2008. Participants at the meeting included representatives of National Telecommunications Regulatory Commissions (NTRCs), telecommunications providers and Governments of the ECTEL Member States, regional development agencies, regional and international telecommunications organisations and the ECTEL Directorate.

8TH GLOBAL SYMPOSIUM FOR REGULATORS. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

The 8th edition of the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR), held in Pattaya, Thailand attracted 536 participants, bringing together regulators, policy makers and service providers from 97 countries. Participants explored a range of infrastructure sharing options as well as other sharing strategies and identified best practice guidelines on innovative infrastructure sharing strategies to promote affordable access to all. The GSR was organized by ITU in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) of Thailand, under the chairmanship of General Choochart Promphrasid, Chairman of the NTC.

Global Industry Leaders Forum (GILF ). Chairman’s Report

The first Global Industry Leaders Forum, held in Pattaya, Thailand on 10 March 2008, gathered over 350 participants, including executives and experts from the ICT industry as well as policy makers and regulators. The Chairman of GILF 2008 was Mr. Sanjiv Ahuja, Chairman of Orange UK and CEO of Augere, UK. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology as well as the National Telecommunication Commission of Thailand. GILF 08 was sponsored by the GSM Association, Nokia/Nokia Siemens Networks, Microsoft, Rohde and Schwartz, Shin Satellite and WiMax Forum.
