1st CARICOM, CSME, Telecom meeting
The First Meeting of the Sub-Group on Telecommunications Services was held at the Jolly Beach Resort, Antigua and Barbuda, during 14-15 March 2005. It was convened through the joint efforts of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, the CARICOM Secretariat and the Inter-American Development Bank. The latter provided the financial resources to cover the cost of the Conference Room Rental, Coffee Breaks and Rental of Equipment.
CEO Priorities
The CEOs Meeting was planned to examine the current direction of CANTO and make
recommendations on the future strategic direction of the organization as seen through the
eyes of the top decision makers in CANTO member companies. At the first meeting
held on the 25th January 2004 in Bonaire, The following five priorities were identified
and the Secretariat was mandated to address these issues: Relevant Information to the
Caribbean; Education and Research; Finding solutions to issues of common concern
to all operators such as external threats and developments at WTO, FTAA and
FCC; The need for collaboration on technical issues and standards across the
Caribbean; and The potential regulatory issues that would arise as a result of the
convergence of technologies.
