CANTO secretariat receives three BlackBerry Smartphones from UTS

The Eastern Caribbean division of UTS, headed by Chief Operating Officer, Glen Carty recently donated three BlackBerry Smartphones to the secretariat of CANTO. The three devices were donated to facilitate communication between the secretariat and the many contacts they maintain on a daily basis. ‘The request to donate these devices was forwarded to us by another mobile provider in one of our larger markets.’ says UTS Eastern Caribbean Chief Operating Officer, Glen Carty. ‘They received the request from CANTO but were unable to assist as they did not offer the BlackBerry Service and consequently also did not carry the devices. We have been offering BlackBerry Service in the Caribbean region through our CHIPPIE mobile service for several years and in the process have become very familiar with the capabilities of these unique devices. We were of course happy to assist CANTO by making this donation. We think it very important to show our support for initiatives that facilitate the provision of innovative information and communications technologies. The fact that CANTO is doing precisely that for the Caribbean region made our decision to assist an absolute must. We have been operating in the Caribbean region for many years and our network has expanded to many islands. We consider CANTO an important partner in developing new services to offer in our various markets.’ UTS offers wholesale, corporate and and retail services and operates in Curacao, St. Maarten, Saint Martin, Bonaire, Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Kitts, Nevis and Surinam. Services offered include international leased lines, television and internet connectivity, local and international fixed telephony and mobile telephony.
