Jamaican triple play provider Flow plans to acquire six cable companies in the short term, local press reported company CEO Richard Pardy as saying.
Pardy reportedly said the deals had already been signed but that last minute paperwork and legal hurdles prevented him from naming the companies.
Flow, owned by Caribbean fiber network operator Columbus Communications, entered the market at the beginning of 2006 and offers voice, data and television services over a fiber optic network. Currently it is focused primarily on capital Kingston.
According to local daily The Jamaica Gleaner, Flow applied for an island-wide license in March 2005, but is now looking to spread its services through the acquisitions. In June last year the company acquired Sauce Cable Company, giving it access to some of Kingston's most affluent neighborhoods.
The company is currently installing a new network in place of the existing Sauce infrastructure, which should be ready by March.
