CANTO Statement on Delegate Safety and Event Readiness Ahead of CANTO Connect 2026 and the 42nd AGM
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – CANTO remains fully committed to the successful staging of CANTO Connect 2026 and the 42nd Annual General Meeting, scheduled for February 1–3, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad in Port of Spain.
We are aware that the evolving political situation in Venezuela has prompted questions from some delegates. These concerns are understandable, and CANTO takes them seriously. While developments in one country do not automatically translate into heightened risk across the region, we recognise our responsibility to provide clear reassurance and uphold strong duty‑of‑care standards for all attendees.
Our Readiness and Safety Measures
CANTO’s planning and preparedness work is well advanced, and our approach to safety remains proactive. We are:
- Working closely with venue security teams, local authorities, and international partners to ensure robust protocols are in place throughout the event.
- Continuously monitoring official public advisories and credible reporting related to regional security and geopolitical developments.
- Prepared to adjust guidance or implement additional measures should any material changes arise.
Strong Delegate Interest Continues
Despite recent regional developments, delegate registrations continue at a strong pace, reflecting sustained confidence in the event and the value it provides to the ICT community. We are encouraged by the positive response from members, partners, and industry leaders who remain committed to participating in this year’s AGM and CANTO Connect.
Why This Meeting Matters
CANTO Connect remains a critical platform for regional collaboration, innovation, and digital transformation. In a period marked by uncertainty and rapid change, maintaining open dialogue and partnership across the Caribbean and Latin America is more important than ever.
We thank our members, partners, sponsors, speakers, and delegates for their continued confidence. We look forward to welcoming the global ICT community to Trinidad and Tobago for a safe, productive, and forward‑looking CANTO Connect 2026 and AGM.
