A Call for Support For Bahamas From Hurricane Dorian Aftermath

PORT OF SPAIN, 12th September, 2019 – With the recent devastation of Hurricane Dorian that significantly impacted the north-western Bahamas islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama and the surrounding Cayes, we ask for your support and prayers for the affected islands as we continue to receive and process information and chart the best way forward in this catastrophe.

The citizens of Bahamas have suffered insurmountable loss. Reports suggest at least 400,000 people will need immediate supplies of food and other aid. While they are slowly coming to terms with these unprecedented events, we must find ways to offer our assistance as they begin to rebuild their homes, businesses and communities.

In the interim, CANTO’s Disaster Risk Management Committee in collaboration with CDEMA and Internet Society (ISOC) have embarked on initiatives in which they are seeking assistance in determining the following;

The Secretariat is available to provide any additional assistance necessary in the collaboration and coordination of these initiatives. For updates and further information, please contact Gail Edwards or Candace Magloire  at 1 (868) 622-3770/4781.

As we continue to pray for strength and fortitude for those affected, let us participate in the restoration process and cherish the opportunity to be a part of this exercise.
