The CANTO 32nd Annual General Meeting and BIIPAC Workshop will be delivered in Haiti as planned. More than eighty delegates comprising c-level telecom executives, regulators, government officials and suppliers from across the region have registered to attend the event which is scheduled to take place from the 31st January to 4th February 2016, at the Marriott Hotel, Port au Prince, Haiti.

Last Friday riots broke out in several parts of Haiti after Pierre Louis Opont, president of Haiti’s electoral council, announced that the runoff vote was being pushed back for security reasons. Today, Monday, things have already calmed down in comparison to Fridays riots.

The CANTO Secretariat has been monitoring the situation closely and has had several meetings with the stakeholders in Haiti who have all confirmed that Security arrangements put in place to ensure the safety of all delegates are adequate.

Reconnaissance Group – a highly respected international Risk Management firm has been contracted to provide secured transfers from the Toussaint L’Ouverture International Airport to the Marriott Port au Prince Hotel and return. In addition All CANTO AGM events will be held at the secured Marriott Port-au-Prince Hotel.
